Self-doubt is a common feeling that most people experience at some point in their lives.

It can manifest in various ways, such as second-guessing yourself, feeling uncertain, or questioning your abilities or what's possible for you in the future. 

While it's normal to have moments of self-doubt, it becomes problematic when it holds you back from pursuing your goals and making a better life for yourself.


Where do self-doubts come from?

Our subconscious mind is responsible for creating self-doubts based on past experiences.

The subconscious mind is like a tape recorder that records every experience, thought, feeling and emotion we have throughout our lives.

Negative experiences trigger our brain's stress centre, releasing a flood of cortisol, the stress hormone, that creates tension in the body and affects the neural pathways in our brain.

Our brains are wired to keep us safe and to protect us from harm.

Therefore, when we experience a negative event, failure or criticism, our mind tends to hold onto that memory and use it as a reference point for protecting us in the future.


This can manifest in your mind as sounding like self-doubt, your inner critic or even imposter syndrome to prevent you from taking risks, trying new things and expanding your comfort zone.

Fortunately, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) tapping is a simple and effective way to process and even permanently release outdated self-doubts and past negative experiences.

EFT tapping involves tapping on specific points on the body while focusing on a challenge, in this case, whatever you're doubting yourself about.

The combination of physically tapping while verbally expressing how you are feeling helps to disrupt stress signals in the brain, reduce cortisol and reprogram the subconscious mind and body with a more grounded and neutral perspective. 

For example, if you have self-doubt about your ability to succeed in your career, you can use EFT tapping to process where those doubts originated to release doubts and negative feelings trapped from your past.
